National players
The National Players are a self-sustaining ensemble, therefore every player helps build, strike, and pack each set into our box truck. The ensemble works together as a team to build the set, run the sound, and focus lights in the allotted time. My general duties included:
-
assisting in unloading the truck
-
creating a raised stage by attaching legs to individual platforms and then bolting them together
-
creating pipe structures by footing pipes and attaching cheeseboroughs
-
assisting in packing the truck
Within this system, each player has a technical role that they specialize in. Mine was Assistant Master Electrician. My specialized duties included:
-
setting up and running DMX to light board and monitor
-
unpacking and assembling all traveling units (source 4's, LEDs, cliplights, and birdies)
-
problem solving the variations in amount/location of available dimmers with the help of a Leprechaun
-
setting and running cable to all units
-
taping and tieing all cabling
-
composing gels and gobos
-
focusing venue's pre-hung units
-
packing and maintaining all equipment
